It all starts with our signature intervention process. Children who are candidates for I3 Lab undergo a thorough screening to identify their strengths and skill gaps. With this screening, our professionals match your child with the I3 Lab curriculum that’s best for their needs.
The I3 Lab curriculum
The I3 Lab is a custom experience for each kid who enters The Learning Lab’s doors. We’ll craft a personalized plan for your child that includes evidence-based curriculum like:
- Barton Reading and Spelling System©: This Orton-Gillingham based approach is a Structured Literacy program that uses intense intervention with a multi-sensory, explicit, systematic, sequential process.
The research says that the Orton Gillingham approach are effective method of teaching reading and spelling
skills. - Foundation in Sounds™: Research shows that Foundation in Sounds is the most effective pre-reading skills teaching method. It helps build phonemic awareness, auditory sequencing skills and more.
- Visualizing and Verbalizing Multi-Sensory Language-Based Programming®: This program helps kids develop strong concept imagery, which helps with reading and listening comprehension, memory,
language expression and much more. - TouchMath©: This multi-sensory math program helps pre-K through 3rd-grade students learn math concepts with auditory, visual and tactile learning methods.
- Wilson Just Words® (Fourth grade and up): This program supports struggling readers who have not mastered the foundational skills of language with strategies that will allow them to independently read,
spell, and ultimately build the skills needed to access and master grade-level standards. - Seeing Stars®: This program successfully develops symbol imagery for phonological and orthographic processing in reading and spelling, allowing for rapid processing, quick self-correction and reduced
instances of guessing. - Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW): IEW’s unique approach provides the structure that students need to develop confidence in the writing process, while gradually guiding them toward greater
independence and creativity. They will learn nine structural models (note taking, writing paragraphs,
stories, simple reports, writing from pictures, research reports, creative writing, essays, and critiques) to
help them organize any type of composition. Additionally, stylistic techniques (strong verbs, quality
adjectives, sentence openers, and more) are taught incrementally to gently move students from the
basics into more sophisticated writing.
