The Learning Lab S.P.A.C.E. Philosophy identifies five key components essential to learning: Spiritual Connections, Physical Literacy, Academic Achievement, Communication Skills and Emotional Awareness. It also stands for space of heart and mind. We are dedicated to helping smart but struggling students find the S.P.A.C.E. they need to live freely, love wholly, learn joyfully, grow continually and shine brightly.

Five Key Components

Spiritual Connections are the energetic ties that connect us to others in families, schools and communities. This energy has the power to unite or divide space of heart and mind. Cultivating and maintaining positive relationships is vital to healthy motivation.

Physical Literacy is about being in our bodies with ease and moving our bodies with confidence. The development of our gross and fine motor skills and how we respond to stimuli impacts our emotional, social and academic growth.

Academic Achievement is the ability to meet short and long term academic goals. It requires sequential development of subject specific skills along with the continuous, explicit development of executive function skills.

Communication Skills are essential to expressing needs and wants respectfully. We build upon communication skills to teach students how to self-advocate.

Emotional Awareness is the ability to recognize and self-regulate our emotions.
